In Memory

Kent Hipwell

January 3, 1962 ~ July 12, 2018

Kent East Hipwell, 56, passed away July 12, 2018, from cancer with his parents and siblings by his bedside. He was born January 3, 1962, to Marguerite and Keith Hipwell. Kent was the third out four children: Karen (Luis) Sandoval, Carl (Jody) Hipwell, and Kathy (David) Mamanakis.

Kent attended school at West Weber Elementary, Wahlquist Junior High and graduated from Weber High in 1980.

Kent had many jobs. At age 17, he was running a gas station on 26th Street and Wall Avenue when he was held up by five older men, two of them had guns, one pointed the gun at him and said "give me the money" then said "give me your wallet." That made him mad so he grabbed the man and took the gun from him. Kent was shot at twice but he held the man till the police came. The newspaper and one magazine praised him. Anyone that knew Kent knew he was tough.

Later on Kent and his dad bought a small dairy in Driggs, Idaho. That was the one job he loved. He loved animals of all kinds, he had cows, calves, chickens, pigs and two dogs. Kent loved four things: Motorcycles, Cars, Mechanics and the "River Bottoms."

Keith and Marguerite want to thank Kent's friends: Kevin Hadley, Don Colleni, Paul Sorenson, Troy Taylor including Owen Coffman and Randy Hall who lived in Idaho, for their friendship after he got sick.

A gathering will be held Sunday, July 22, 2018, From 6 to 8 p.m. at Comfort Suites, 2250 S. 1200 W., Ogden. At 7 p.m. there will be an Open Mic for those who wish to share their thoughts and memories.

A burial will be held at a later date at Ogden City Cemetery.
